HIDES AND SKIN REPORT. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report as follows : KafUbitskins. —Small catalogues were submitted at Monday's sale. The gjreater portion of the skins now com;ing forward "off season." For prime winters and silver greys tkere is a good demand at (Rotations, while late values for fawns and autumns are well maintained. Quotations : Prime winters, IGfd to 17.jd ; medium do, 13d to l'lid; autumns, 10c! ic 12d ; early autumns, 7d to i)d ; summers, <ld to GJd ; best silver greys, 20d to 23Jd; best fawns, 13d to 13ld. Sheepskins.—l/arge catalogues were again ofTcred at yesterday's sale, and competition for all lots was brisk. Shippers were operating freely and secured the bulk of the best sk'.ns offered. Prices realised were well up to late values,(and in many, cas>s exceeded. CHRISTCHURCH WOOL SALES. The opening sale of the season was held at Chriatchurch on Thursday. The catalogue comprising 3531 bales. The wool generally, was in v ry fair condition. There was a large attendance of buyers, exporters, wool scourers, the colonial mills and ■being fully represented. Bidding for all descriptions was spirited, and the sales, which began at 9 a.m., wore finished soon after 1 p.m., an almost complete clearance being effected. Com pared with the opening sales of last season merino was firm, with an accasional advance of Id per lb—a very small "quantity was catalogued. Half-bred was Id to IJd dearer, the improvement being most pronounced in the medium and inferior grades. Crossbred showed an advance of 1 Jd to 'M per lb, the greater advance being iu medium qualities. The prices current for greasy wool were as follows : Merino, super, lOd to lid ; medium to good, SJd to il.Jd ; inferior, Scl to Sid: half-bred, 10,' dto lid; medium, Sid to lOd; inferior, Sd to Sid; crossbred, super, i)d to lOd ; medium, 8d to Si'd ; inferior, 7d to 74' cl; long wool, super, Sid to 9d; medium, 7id to S.Jd.
