The Biverton races were concluded on Tuesday, when the weather was floe and the attendance good. In the Aparima Handicap the rider of Silver Bapee (Henry) was disqualified, but an appeal being lodged, the tote money was held over for further consideration. A protest was lodged against Silver Bupee, who finished first in the Aparima Handicap on the second day of the Biverton races, on the ground of interference with the second horse, Phaetontis. The protest was upheld, the race awarded to Phaetontis, and Henry, rider of Silver Bupee, disqualified for six months. Notioe of appeal was given. Local sports who visited the Biverton meeting had two days'excellent sport, the racing provided being of a high order. The close finishes in a number of tbe races testified to the abilities of Mr A. J. Gibba, who officiated as handicapper for this club for the first time. The management was in expert hands, the only deficiency being the starting on the first day, whlob, however, was satisfactory the following day. Principal winning payments at the O.J.C. meeting were E. Gates £I3OO, Sir G. Clifford £1245, G. G. Stead £390, H. Friedlander £3OO, J. Raid £IBO, S. Brown £l2O, G. Gould £IOO, and H. Cassidy £IOO. It is rumored that Bibbonwood has been sold for £I4OO.

Phaetontis has been allotted Bst 101b in the Stewards Welter at the Timaru races noxt week.

AttheOamaru Hibernian Society's sports on Monday J. Sbivas, Gore, won his beat in the Sheffield Handicap, but failed in the semi-final.

The protest against Monzies, winner of the mile race at the Gore Caledonian sports, lor being supplied with refreshments during the race has been dismissed. The society communicated with the secretary of the Dunedin Caledonian Society and was informed that there was no rule bearing on (he matter. The Oore Caledonian Society is likely to have a credit balance over Monday's sports, thanksjto generous support on the part of the public and competitors.
