A match was played on on Saturday afternoon—North Island v. South Island, three rinks asidef The weather was splendid, and the green was like glass. Lock represented Gore in the match, which resulted in a win for the South Island by three points, the scores being : South, 61; North 58. Following are the players and scores:— North Island.—J. Brackenbridge, jun., Gooder, Bell, Brackenbridge, sen. (s) 17 ; McM&naway, McDonald, Young, Longton (s) 22; Boskinge, Bush, Titch, Plummer (s) 19. Total, 58. South Island. Lambie, McDoughall, Struthers, Maddison (s) 14; Hain, Lock, McLaren, Allnutt (s) 23 ; Neave, Taylor, Oakley, Barlow (a) 24. Total, 61. Thirty-four rinks entered for the rink championship. In Christchurch (Jackson) v. Dunedin (Gillies) the Dunedin rink was disqualified. Fourth Bound Victoria (Brackenridge) 23, beat Gore (Lock) 17. The play of the Gore men was splendid, especially that of Lock and Craig. Their stand against Timaru (Gow) was excellent. The ' Lyttelton Times' today says :—" One southern rink from Gore (skipped by T. Lock) created a very favorable impression, and it is to be congratulated on its excellent debut." In the doubles Hannah and Lock play McLaren and Barnes; Bust and Craig play Gow and Crawford (Dunedin).
