Tukkday, May 13. Tho meeting was attended by the Major (Mr Thou. MacOibbon), Councillor lirowo, Halt, Taylor, Lowden, Hleeman, Cameron, and Ileßliii. COIUIKKI'OKIIHN'CK. The Mayor of Duucdin wrote stating that a public meeting had teen held in Dunedin to consider what steps should be taken to celebrate the King's Coronation, when a resolution was passed to the cfl.-ct that the meeting was of opinion that the sciviu-H of the Otago and Southland repress.titivt s of the New Zealand eon;ingents who bad lost their lives in South Africa should be commemorated by the erection of a " Fallen Soldiers' Monument " in some suitable position in the City of Dunedin. It was asked that the Council should co-opeiate.-- The letter was received, Mr Uunniston to be notified that the Council intend to co-operate. The Colonial Secretary wrote enclosing copy of a wairant authorising the removal of the remains of the body of Ernest McLeod from one to another part of the Mataura cemetery.—Received. E. K. Bowler wrote sending for exicution by the Council a memorial to the Governor asking that tt proclamation be issued Betting aßide the land required in Danish street.— Received, the Mayor being empowered to sifjn. The Council thereafter adjourned.
