THE WYNDHAM POLITICAL MEETING.

THE PREMIER IN REPLY. The Premier delivered an address at Ambeiley last night to a crowded and enthusiastic audience and met with a splendid reception. He firat replied to the speech of Mr J. Allen, M.H.R., at Wyndham, and claimed that he had misrepresented the facts to serve his own and party ends. Mr Seddon quoted from the Year Dook to show how the figures bad been .twisted, and hoped Mr Allen had been misreported, as such remarks might be detrimental to the colony. He referred to Mr C. He quoted figures to show how much better the position was now that when the pre ent Government took office. He announced an intention of reducing the rates on the railway/and said all over 3 per cent, of their earnings should be returned in rebates. He intended to continue to endeavor to get cheaper freights, and if the steamship companies would not do their duty it might eomo to a Government line of steamers to take New Zealand produce to the ports ot the world. lie announced the probability of legislation in the shape of workmen's homes and to do away with slums. A hearty vote of thanks for the address and continued confidence in the Ministry was carried by acclamation.
