Mataura School Committee.

The monthly meeting of the Mataura ' School Committee was held on Tuesday , last. Present — Messrs Balneaves (in the \ chair), Clark, Dickie, McKelvie, Keid, ' Shepherd, and Winning. j • The Committee appointed to report on the pipes running through the school grounds, presented their report, which was received and referred back to them i to get the work done. '■■ Circulars were received from the Edu- i cation Board and Railway Department re fire prevention and excursion ticketß. The Inspector's report was received, and being highly satisfactory, the thanks ' and congratulation of the Committee were accorded the head teacher and : staff. ! In view of a contemplated sohool excursion on the 23rd December next, the secretary was instructed to communicate with the several School Committees and managers of factories in the district, asking them to co-operate, the date of the excursion to be fixed at the next meeting of the Committee. 1 The Chairman was authorised to get the school chimneys cleaned as soon as possible.
