ROADS AT CROYDON.

TO THE EDITOR. Sib,—Will you grant me space to draw attention to the state of the roads at the Croydon Village Settlement. It is about five years since the settlement was formed, and not £1 has been expended by the Government or County Ccunci^n forminp a road. Surely, Sir, it is time something was done in the matter, as it is almost impossible to get an empty dray into the bush, let alone timber for building, etc., and ye cannot cart firewood or stakes out. When I spoke to our representative in the County Council about twelve months ago, he informed me that it would be brought before the Council shortly, but as yet we have heard nothing about the matter. Fencing material is at the present time being brought into Gore from Winton, Invercargill, and other places. Sir, is this fair to us?—l am, etc., Settler. Croydon, November 4th, 1896.
