Dairy Factory For Riversdale.

♦ — A masting of milk suppliers to tha proposed factory was held in Gee's Hotel on Saturday night last. Mr Jas. Kelly, chairman, stated that the meeting hod, bean called for the pnrposo of of getting suppliers to sign the necssßary bond to the Bank, and also to appoint a Board of Directors, Mr Valentine asked those farmers present-, before nominating anyone, to consider well what they were abonfc, to sse and elect men from among themselves to the directorate. By doing so, the success of the affair would be assured. No one had a better right to represent them than those who had taken so much trouble, and come forward that flight with the matter worked up. Mr Jas. Watt moved that the provisional dtreetors ba appointed to the permanent board. . Mr Heenan, while admittiug that thosa 'gentleman had done good service, agreed 'with Mr Valentine that farmers should be lareely represented on the board. Mr Kelly also concurred with Mr Valentine's remarks. Mr Valentine again depreciated a tendency on the part of farmers to leave the carrying on of their affairs to business men. and there was no doubt but that they had suffered for this. While being ready to assist them in any way possible, be would urge upon them the necessity for managing their own affairs among themselves. Nominations for the directorate were thsn taken, and the result, after balloting out s- ven names, was that Messrs Jas Kelly. M. Heenan, Jas Stevenson, junr., G. McAllister, A. Reid, John McKay (Otama), and Jas. Watt were declared duly elected. The form of guatantee required by the Bank was then read. The Chairman intimated that this would require to be signed by the milk suppliers before the Company could b» registered. Mr Qualter thought the rate of interest (7 per cer.t.) rather high. Tha Chairman explained that a lower rate could have been prooured, but not at such favorable terms. This was for three years, and the lower rate was only for on.e, and was liable to be called up, which wouiij also entail extra expense. The bond to^u^3ank. was eventually signed by all 'fI^HBKQt who were in r terested.
