Piitbans killed Lieutenant Home, of the Engineers, and seven Sepoys, in a lonely camp in Zuhob Valley. Constantinople, Jane 8. Tarkey has rejected the demands of the Great Powers , with regard to reforms in Armenia, in toto. Tho Sultan declares that reforms are unnecessary, and denies the right of the Powers to interfere, as nothing unusual has occurred. Ottawa, June 8. The Canadian House of Commons, by a majority of 68, rejected a proposal to confer the franchise on women. Shanghai, June 8. The German gunboat Itlis bombarded and silenced the Chinese fort; at Hove, because the authorities prevented tbe departure of a steamer carrying Fang Ching, president of the Formosa Republic. The steamer afterwards proceeded on her way to the town o£ Taipehafa, in Formosa, where tho powder magazine was set fire to and exploded, killing 90 persons. The Japanese success in North Formosa has disorganised tho Chinese forces in 'Taipehfa, a large town in the north o£ Formosa. Tho native soldiers are looting «nd firing the houses, and have alao fired many Government buildings. The republic recently established in Formosa has collapsed. Sydney, JuneS.
