The National Mortgage and Agency Co. report holding their fortnightly sale at the Wallacetown yards on Tuesday, when a large amount of stock was yarded. Fat Cattle— 69 bead forward, bat there was not a good pen in the lot, as they { consisted of small half fat bullocks and ! medium to very ordinary conditioned oows. A few of the best bullocks brought up to L 5 15s, but a large number did not sell, owners' ideas of values being high. For cows L 5 103 waa top price paid ; others from L 3 10s upwards. Fat Sheep— 7B9 entered. Bidding was pretty brisk, and a clearance was made at abont Is to la 6d above late prices. Best heavy* weathers brought up to 83 9d ; ordinary, 7a to 8s Id ; heavy ewes, 6s to 7s ; ordinary, 4s 6d to 6s 6d. Store Sheep— 2o2o entered} foi which the demand was much better, and as buyers tor turnip-feeding were operating sales were made of good sheep at almost fat prices. Good wethers brought 7s to 7s 7d ; ordinary, 6s to 6s 6d ; best lambs, 5s 6d ; ordinary, 4s to ss ; small, 3s to 3s 9d ; breeding ewes (culls), 3s to 4s, Store Cattle -145 entered, and a pretty i good clearance was made, although there was nothing special forward. Best dairy cows brought up to L 6, 3 -year- old steers to L 4, 2-year«old do 50s, yearlings 30s to 40s, calves 20s. Taking the sale all through the tone was better, but this is accounted for by a few farmers wanting turnip sheep, and not to any other cause.
