GORE DOMAIN BOARD.
I — — ♦ - A meeting of the Board was hold in I White's Hotel yesterday afternoon ; prel sent— Messrs Beattie (chairman), Bree, . Henderson and Nicolson. Mr F. S. Cann ng tendered his resignation, and added by way of postscript — "I am glad to notice by the newspaper reports that you are in lunds and that you are judiciously expending same in improving the handsome reserves with which Gore is endowed, and that the loud and continuous croakers will now be silenced in their howling condemnation of you as a public body and prove themselves * men ' by giving to you individually and colleotively credit for your gratuitous labors which you richly deserve. In tendering you my resignation j I must admit I feel a considerable ! amount of pain, but compulsion has no choice and my earnest desire is that you live to see your labor grow to your individual satisfaction, and thus, if from no other source, reap your reward." Mr Canning's resignation was accepted with regret, and a vote of thanks passed for his many valuable services. Mr B. Whittingham was recommended as his successor. The sale of the grazing rights over certain blocks for next year was agreed to, the sale to be beid by Messrs Brewer and Trembath on Saturday, 23rd December. Au application by Mr Whittingham to run a pipe from the brewery to the river through the public gardens was granted, the lessee (Mr H. Bichardson) agreeing to it ; Mr Whittingham to bear all expense. The action of the chairman and secretary in selling the grazing by sheep oaly in block D to Mr Macara until 30th April next for L 3 was approved. The meeting then adjourned until 10.30 a.m. on Saturday, 23rd inst. '
