Heavy ram fell on Monday, and with rum and- beat daring . the week, those who are threshing are bnVlog a bad lime ot it. Tbreshiug is getting well advanced, and on the whole the yieid of gram has ueen disappointing and:-the Bample very inferior. Farmers are hurrying their grain to market before tbe roads get impassable, and contrary to former years the bulk of the grain is going to the Bluff, Meesr o J, Q. Theie are a few complaints of the unsatisfactoiy way of weighing grain in trucks at the Blurt, but I have no doubt that will be remedied in course of time. Pomahaka siding presents a very lively appearance at the present; time. The sti'friy sons of the soil with their perspiring teams are arriving in great numbeis heavily laden with grain. So far there has been no block nor any unpleasantness amongst the carters 's'■ in regard to trucks, further than a bit of good natured chaff. The railway officials g are doing all they can to prevent the grain 1 from accumulating, and great credit is due to (he guard, Mr Japp, for his energy and impartiality displayed in allotting trucks. A porter- has just been appointed to take charge of the siding duting the grain season, which will be a great convenience to the. settleis.

The young ladies of the 'Koi are getting up a tall for next Friday. Misß Lavander is the secretary, and her name should be sufficient to make the affair a success. In. vitalkns are to be issued by the young ladies only. 1 even hear that Cyclops is tti get an invitation. The 'Koi Mutual Improvement Society opened on Thursday night* The Jtev. There are a few good " dambrod " players, in tbe 'Koi,and a Draughts Club is Bpoken of. The attendance at the school now averages, fifty, but it is impossible in the winter time for those ohjldien, who are three or four miles from school to attend regularly, owing to tho fearful state of the roads. In former years they could take hear cuts through tbe open country, but now it is all feiickl and the children must keep to the roads...
