The match between the Englishur n and Canterbury was played this afternoon, in splendid weather, and in presence of about 10(0 spectators. There was a fresh breeze blowing from the S K., with which Canterbury played in the first spoil, but it dropped as the game progressed, and by thu time the first spell was finished had disappeared altogether. The play for the greater portion of the game was a poor exhibition on the part of fir.stI class players. Both teams showed evident signs of stab ness, and at times the play was of a most tedious description to watch.
