Another Victim of the Bottle.

e Per Press Association. Christchurch, July 21. An inquest was held at Waiau yesterday on the body found at Leslie Pass. It was identified as that of Charles licit, a shephord of St. James’ Station. He had boon drinking at Waiau for a fortnight, and left there with two men last Sunday, taking a bottle of whisky which he broached a mile this side of Leslie Pass. He would then go no farther, and his companions went on. Arthur Bryant, boundary kieper for Duncan Rutherford, found his saddle at Leslie Pass, and on searching found the body in a rock-bound creek in the Pass quite dead. Tho horse was found at Us tuner River, Ihe other side of the range. Dr Bolger gave it as his opinion that death resulted, not from falling into the creek, but from exposurt whilst suffering from drink. The verdict was “died from exposure while wandering about in a depressed state of mind througn excessive drinking.”
