Dunedin, May 24. To-day was generally observed as a holiday. The weather was fine, though a cold wind was blowing, and slight showers fell late in the afternoon. Christchurch, May 24. The volunteers had a very successful field day at How Brighton, 550 men present. 200 Queen’s Gadots paraded in Hagley Park, and did battalion movements. The Heathcotc Races were well ’ patronised. Numerous excursions were arranged, and large crowds left by tho trains.
