Betting. The New South Wales Legislative Council have been holding a discussion on the morality of betting. Sir William Manning maintained that betting was the devil’s work, while Sir Alfred Stephen, who believed that he had never made a bet in his life, did not hold that betting in itself was dishonorable or wrong.
