The fire Avas caused through the setting alight to the tent. Three children escaped. Feb 21. Tho Mariposa, which leaves for San Francisco via Auckland today will take with her a nrmber of thoroughbred yearlings, which have been purchased by American residents. Broken Hill shares are now over £4OO. A great hurricane was experienced with heavy fall of rain, on the northern coast. Tho steamer You Yangs arrived at Townsvi 1! o with her foremast cut away, and her anchors and cables gone. The captain reports having encountered a hurricane, also that tho steamer Geolong was wrecked on Boulder Beach, Long Island. None or the crew was drowned, and there is a possibility of the steamer being floated. Several other vessels are overdue, and much anxiety is felt for their safety. Brisbane, Feb 21. The heavy weather which has prevailed in the north has caused an interruption of telegraph lines, consequently no information is available as to the arrival or nonarrival of vessels, about whose safety fears are entertained, and much anxiety is felt.
