While the late Archbishop Trench •was Dean of Westminster it becamo the turn of Canon Cureton to preach at the Abbey tin a certain saint’s day. On such days jhe boys of Westminster School attended service, and after service had the rest of tho day for a holiday. While Mr Cureton on the morning of the day when he was ij;6 officiate, was looking over his sermon at the breakfast table, his son asked, in a tone vibrating with anxiety, t* Father, is yours a long sermon to-day r” “ No, Jimmy, not very.” (‘But how long, please tpll me.” (‘Well, about twenty minutes, I should snv. Bui why are you So anxious to know ?” “ Because, father, tho boys say they will thrash me awfully if you are more than lialf-an-hour.” After the service was over Mr Cureton told Doan Trench his story. “Dear, dear,” he replied, “ what a pity Wordsworth has no sons at school I” Canon WC-dsworch used to preach sermons an 'jyjur and a half in length
