The Cologne Gazette states that tho Russian forces massod near the Austrian frontier are three times greater than those maintained by Austria in a similar position. Great excitement prevails in Vienna. The Archduke Albrecht, who holds tho position of InspectorGeneral of the Austsian Army, has been summoned back from the Tyrol, and a Council of War will he convened shortly. Russia explains the massing of the troops in Poland as a mobilisation experiment. The Moscow Gazette urges the necessity of Russia maintaining a strong fleet in the Pacific. The Rowe Brothers’ gold mine at Fryerstown, Victoria ,has been sold to a syndicate, and a company to work tho mine, with a capital of £IOO,OOO, has been floated. It is expected that H.M.S. Royalist, 12 guns, will relieve H. M.S. Diamond on the Australian station. Mr Pago Woo lard has been appointed Govorumont Geologist to Western Australia, and he he has sailed by the Shannon.
