To the Teachers of the State Schools of New. Zealand. ] n view of the kindly response nnulc by touchers and children throughout New Zealand, to our appeal on behalf of the starving little ones at home, we purpose to ask the teachers to make an effort annually to collect a few pence in their sehsols for the same purpose. The £sl sent home was acknowlged by the London School board in the following manner.- At a meeting of the hoard, April 28th, Mr higgle (Chairman) proposed that the Chairman make it known, through the Lord Mayor, the pleasure with which the hoard have heard of the kindly and generous interest which the schools in New Zealand have taken in the welfare of the poorest of the children in London, and in thanking them for the same, to express the hope that such acts of sympathy on the part of children in the Colonies to Children at home may strengthen those ties of common instinct and mutual goodwill which are binding into closer union these distant colonies and the mother country I)r. Gladstone seconded the motion, and it was agreed to unanimously. Wc have £lB on band from the subscription of last year. 'We would ask those teachers of large schools who do not quite agree with our purpose to kindly abstain from influencing adversity the subordinates.
