To the Teachers of the State Schools of New Zealand. In view of the kiutlly response made by teachers and children throughout New Zealand, to our appeal on behalf of the starving little ones at home,' we purpose to ask the teachers to make an effort annually to collect a few pence in their schsols for the same purpose. The £sl sent home was acknowlged by the Loudon School board in the following manner.- At a meeting of the Board, April 28th, Mr Biggie (Chairman) proposed that the Chairman make it known, through the Lord Mayor, the pleasure with which the Board have heard of the kindly and generous interest which the schools in New Zealand have taken in the welfare of the poorest of the children in London, and in thanking them for the same, to express the hope that such acts of sympathy on the part of children in the Colonies to Children at home may strengthen those ties of common instinct and mutual good will which are binding into closer union these distant colonies and the mother country Dr. Gladstone seconded the motion, and it was agreed to unanimously.

We have £IS on hand from the subscription of last year. Any teacher desiring circulars could received them by applying by post card. We would ask those teachers of large schools who do not quite agree with our purpose to kindly abstain from influencing adversity the subordinates. We only ask One Benny from each child- May our united efforts succeed this year in giving dinners to even more than 12.000 children (the number fed last year) during the coming winter J. Cl.
