The Agricultural Show opened in tlio new Show grounds yesterday. There was a line display m all classes, there being some good stock and a largo and excellent c 1 'splay of implements and machinery. The chief prize takers in the d'tierent classes are as follows ;—Merino sheep f le combings, Watson, Shannon, Warren estate, Mallock and Lance ; sprmg combngs, A. A. and K. M‘Master, W. C. Nioholls, 11. Wnarton and Co. and U. Rutherford; Enghsh Leieesters, P. C. Th-elkeld, J. Bonifant and J. Ilaydou ; Border Leicester, 11. R. and J. E. Parker, and Hon. M. Holmes; ditto, housed and clothed, New Zealand and AustruPan Land Company; Lincolns, C. Withel, W. Morris, Hon. W. Holmes and T. Pashby ; d'tto, housed and clotlied, New Zealand and Australian Land Company, Hon M. Holmes, Romney, March and John Reid; Cotswald, W’’ ; am Bong; Southdowns : J. Wushboume, J. Deans, S. Gaiforth and P. C. Threlkeld ; Shrop slime Downs: J. Grigg; Hanipslrro Downs : M. Friedlander ; Fat Sheep ; D. Garforth, L. White and E. Dauvorg.io. In shorthorn cattle E. Mcntlove took f : -st pr'ze for best of any age, and also for tlio best threc-yoar-old buH. J. Reid took first pr'ze for the best two-year old and yearling br’ls; J. Deans for hi l calves : J. Hold for best cow or heifer, J. Deans for "best milch cow ‘ anti. tl ;00-year : old heifer; J. Reid for two-year-old heifer. In draught horses John M‘Kellar’s Victor took F-st prize for the best entire, Moor’s Early Moromg bong second. John Sma”’s Vanquisher was first among three years entered, and W. Boag’s Cl 'ef of the Clan among the two-year-qlds. Mf Boag’s Flora M‘Domi!d took first as the best marc in foal or with foal at foot, James Austin’s Process Royal took f -st and special as *he host thr: i-year-old fi’ly. John Boag’s Mar-ch-'oness 11. took fi-st pi'zo as best C y mare. Later.
