Litchfield, MARKET PLACE, BLENHEIM. Mayoral Election. TO THE BURGESSES OF THE BOROUGH OF BLENHEIM. Ladies andgentlemen —lt has been represented tome that a strong feeling of dissatisfaction exists with respect to the two candidates soliciting election for the Mayoralty. It is objected to Mr Henderson that two years are long enough for anyone to occupy .the office of Mayor ; and to Mr Douslin, that he is a very unsuitable person, owing to his not having any idea of economy in dealing with the ratepayers’ money, and his being given to extravagant and wild schemes. In consequence, a large number of electors, have (to use a stereotyped phrase, though in this case a true one) asked me to stand for the office, believing that I shall do my best as Chairman of the Council to conduct it with economy and fairness, Electors. —I respectfully solicit your support for this honourable office; hut I must inform you (on principle) I shall not canvas or ASK for PROMISES as I have always thought, and do so now, that it is unfair and insulting to any elector, as he is quite able, I take it, to exercise his judgment on the merits of the candidates. Yours faithfully, I6v. GEO. W. RILEY,
