LOUIS D’Or i 9 a chestnut Horse 8 years old standing over 16 hands high with great power and is by that celebrated horse TRADUCER, sire fo Rurline, Calumny, Templeton, Sir Modred and a host pf well known winners out of the imported mate Rupee, (late Half Grown). Rupee is by Dollar, the begt son of the Flying Dutchman winner of the Derby and St. Ledger of 1849. Dollar won the Northamptonshire Stakes and Goodwood Cup in 1864, and is the sire of Salvator, winner of the Grand Prix de Paris in 1875. Salvator was the sire of the sire of the Duke of Hamilton’s Osaian, which jypn the St. Ledger, 1883, and ran second in the Goo/Jw.ood Cup in 1884, Louis D’Or received first honors three years in succession as the beet thoroughbred entire at the Marlborough Agricultural Show, and ran second to Grip iu tbe C. J.C. Handicap when a three year old, Mpmoucbe dam of Rupee is by the Baron, sire pf fitppjiwell and Rataplan.
