Communications are passing between the Governments of NS.W, and Victoria with a vbw to the prevention of the threatened increase in the Cable Tariff between Australia and New Zealand. The Victorian Government, it is understood, favors a general contribution by the colonies to all the Australian Cables on the basis of population, Mr Warren, Superintendent of the Eastern Extension Telegraph Company at Low Heads, Tasmania, has wired to the London Office of the Company suggesting that the proposed increase in the tariff be post, poned for a month to all nv of further negotiations.
