As showing what some members’ idea on the question of retrenchment are, I may mention that yesterday afternoon Mr Taylor, the member for Sydenham, asked the Government to put the sum of £IO.OOO on the Supplementary Estimates for the purchase of sh<Jw grounds for' the Sydenham Agricultural Association. Tho Premier replied jocularly that the Government had not a fund for the purpose, but suggested that the hon. member might gat a clause inserted in the Municipal Corporations Bill to meet the requirements of the Tydonham people, June 14.
