Melbourne, July 10. • Tho Premier has received an intimation from the Agent-General, stating that the Under-Secretary for the Colonies .assures him he knows nothing of the proposal tp send Irish informers to the colouies. The present intention of the Government is to pay the informers eertaiu sums of money, and protect them as long as they remain in Ireland. A petition from Sandhurst to the Legislative Assembly states that the stocks of Sandhurst decreased in value 1.80,000 the day judgment was prouounced in Cusling v. Lady Barkley Company. A disgraceful disturbance, in which a member of Parliament, a justice of the peace, and a licensing magistrate took a prominent part, occurred in Bourke-street at a late hour on the sth instant, arising out of the M. L. A. lighting a cigar in the ladies’ dining-room. On Saturday afternoon, a man, name unknown, rushed on the railway line just as the Sydney down-train was leaving Narandera, and was knocked down and killed. The Redmond Brothers have been the cause of a split between Father. M'Kenna and the Roman Catholics of Fitzroy. Redmond applied for the itse of the school for a meeting, which M'Kenua refused, whereupon the ladies of the congregation, who were making efforts for a bazaar in aid of the church, handed in their subscription lists and refused to assist in the matter. The reverend gentleman was still further surprised to find that a large number of Catholic residents refused to subscribe to the church extension, the result 'being that he has reconsidered the matter, r and agrees to preside over the meeting shortly to be held.
