STOCK SALES

PRICES AT MORRINSVILLE Store Sheep and Cattle East Coast Stock Changes Hands Large entries of East Coast sheep and cattle were offered at the Morrinsville stock sales on Friday, in addition to the usual yardings of local stock. The auctioneers quote as follows: — FARMERS’ AUCTIONEERING CO. Store cattle were again yarded in full numbers, including many pens of male cattle. Taking the entry all through it was not up to the previous week’s standard as far as quality was concerned. Several pens of 2 and 3-year-old steers from Gisborne attracted attention, but the sale throughout was slightly easier, especially in the female cattle section. However, the majority of the yarding changed hands either under the hammer or privately afterwards. The advertised entry of store sheep from East Coast districts ’ came forward in good order, and . attracted a large attendance of buyers. Although competition was not quite as keen as at the previous week’s sale the majority of the offering changed hands at satisfactory prices. Two-tooth ewes from Gisborne realised up to 36s lOd. There was only a small entry of fat sheep, comprising chiefly hoggets I with a few pens of fat ewes. Late rates were maintained throughout. The usual yarding of heavy quality sorts of ox beef came forward, with quotations slightly easier. A truck of heavy P.A. steers averaged £ll 16s. There was an exceptionally heavy yarding of cow and heifer .beef, with only a small proportion of (finished quality. Competition for .this class of cattle was slightly easier. Second quality and fresh-conditioned Jersey cows from dairy herds were also penned in full numbers, these selling firmly at late rates. Bulls showed no variation in prices. Fat pigs came forward in average numbers and sold under keen competition at. further advanced rates. A smaller entry of stores also met a > good sale, and the whole yarding changed hands at very satisfactory figures., Store Sheep. ' Pen of good quality 2-tooth ewes, ex Gisborne, 36s lOd.
