Children’s Column
OUR COMPETITIONS Dear Young People,— Christmas is now only a fortnight off. I think I can hear you all saying “Hurrah for Christmas!” Kiwi hopes you will all have a very merry Christmas, and also hopes that at the start of the new year you will all write and say what you did at Christmas time. ~, . , , ,
Remember that Kiwi’s Christmas story and essay competitions close next Tuesday. All you have to do is to write an essay or a story —or both —about anything you like. It must not be too long—not more than 750 words, but often the shortest stories and essays are the best. Too many words may spoil the story, just as too many cooks may spoil the cooking. The winning stories and essays will be published in this column when the paper comes out on the day before Christmas, so that there will be a real Christmas surprise in store for our readers.
School breaks up next week. Do not forget to read Kiwi’s Children’s Column during the holidays. We are going to have some new painting and story competitions in January. Watch for them. ' Love from KIWI.
