STOCK SALES

.MATAMATA

Improvement in Prices

Young Sheep and Baconers

At the Farmers’ Auctioneering Co.’s stock sale at Matamata on Wednesday the advertised entry came forward and attracted buyers in large numbers. Fat sheep showed no alteration, but a feature of the sale was the spirited competition for the line of two-tooth woolly ewes which sold from £2 2s to £2 6s 9d. Breeding ewes and lambs also found a ready sale. There was a very heavy yarding of cattle with a good proportion of fat cattle. Prime quality was in good demand, a line of 12 fat cows and heifers on account of R. K. Reynolds selling from £6 8s to £B. A full yarding of* Jersey and Jerseycross cows sold firmly at unchanged rates, and potter bulls showed a decided improvement. The advertised line of steers attracted buyers in j good numbers, and sold at slightly reduced rates. A heavy yarding of fat pigs, and a full entry of stores, came forward. Competition was exceptionally keen for all baconers, which realised prices which were 2s to 3s a head fetter than Hamilton rates. Porkers remained firm, while stores were dull of sale.
