SOCIAL NOTES

GOLF BALL Matamata Success The Matamata Town Hall presented a gay scene for the annual ball held by the Matamata Golf Club. The decorations were done in Eastern mode and were most attractive. From a large square widefringed streamers were artistically draped to the walls, while a ring of streamers, silver stars and Chinese lanterns gave a gay finish to the centre of the hall. The walls also were in Oriental style, bright modernistic panels being alternated with , greenery and butterflies. The stage was pleasingly arranged as a lounge, while the orchestra stand, presenting a novel frontage with dragon lanterns and lights, was . in a prominent position at the end of the hall. .Orchestral music was provided, and extras were supplied by Mrs. T. Cotter and Mr. A. Crabb. Visitors were .-present from Cambridge, Auckland, Thames, Te Aroha and Hamilton. . - The committee responsible Tor arrangements included Mesdames W. L. Hollis, D. R.
