Popular Breaking-up Function The Walton Hall was filled when the school committee and lady helpers entertained th’e children at a jolly breaking-up party. A splendid programme of items was presented by the children, including a number of little plays. The most distinctive item was “ The Wedding of the Painted Doll,” in which the leading parts were taken by Betty Harris (parson), Frances Jamieson (bride) and Betty Wills (groomsman), with six of the elder children as bridesmaids. The costumes were very appropriate. After the items Mr. J. B. Nicholls, chairman of the school committee, congratulated the children and expressed the appreciation of residents to Mrs. Shirley and Misses Southee and/iMoore. who were responsible for training the children. Bouquets were presented to these ladies in recognition of their good work. Presentations were made to the fpar-hara of the school, Mavis Todd asking Miss Moore to accept a gift from the girls, and Dick Mapp making the presentation from the boys to Mr. Jamieson. u

A supper worthy of the occasion was provided by the. ladies. The jolly nature of the party was an indication of the work of the committeemen, Messrs. *T. • Brj ■•Nicholls, C. Given (secretary), A.
