SCOUTS AND CUBS
HOLIDAY AT BEACH Camping at Tauranga j Cubs to the number of 37, drawn from Matamata, Putaruru, Waitoa, Te Poi, Mangateparu and Waihi went into camp on the High" School reserve, Tauranga, on Saturday. The various contingents of cubs are under the supervision of Mrs. Tulloch and Miss Scott, of Putaruru, Misses Wilson and Bennett, of Mangateparu, Mr. A. H. Turtle and Mr. B. Howe, of Matamata, and Canon Kyall, of Waihi. The boys were all in good heart and experienced glorious weather over the week-end, although heavy rain set in on Monday. Fine weather has since been experienced.
On Saturday next the Cubs return home and their places will be taken by 70 to 80 Scouts from Matamata, Te Poi, Putaruru, Waitoa, Mangateparu and Te Aroha. , District Commissioner F. G. Southon, of Te Poi, who inspected the Cub camp and also a camp at Waihi during the holidays, will supervise the Scouts, who will be under Scout-: master McNeill and Assistant-Scout-master E. Saunders, of Waitoa. The Scout camp will break up on Saturday, Jdnuary 18.
