An old-time dance will be held in the Kensington on Saturday night.
The Railways Department announces special train, arrangements for the trotting meeting at Claudelands on Saturday.
The roll of the Matamata District High School for April was : Intermediate department, 191 ; average attendance, 185 ; secondary department, 160; average attendance, 154.
Frosts have continued in Matamata since Saturday. Mr. W. Halligan’s recordings are: Saturday 7.5 degrees, Monday 8.2, Tuesday 6.0, Wednesday 6.1.
A united King’s Jubilee thanksgiving church service will be held in the Regent Theatre on Sunday morning, and will be conducted by Revs. A. C. Hampton, J. W. Burley and A. Blakemore.
Owing to a ruling by the Auckland Education Board the Matamata District High School Committee has for the time being to debar the Teachers’ Institute and the Old Pupils’ Association from holding meetings in the school. It is the intention of the committee to try to secure an insurance cover for so many days in the year so that any risk arising from these meetings may be covered.
