HOW TO REST
“How few people know how to rest,” said Miss L. Mackinnon, speaking at the Oxford Course in Music Teaching. “Few people know how to relax their minds. With practice one can learn to stop thinking altogether. The way to do it is to relax the muscles of the face, including the muscles of the eyes, and gradually all thought will drift away. You will have a feeling of delightful drowsiness, and with practice you will be able to fall asleep at will and at any time. This is a certain cure for insomnia.”
