ANSWER TO CORRESPONDENT
J.H. —Hawke's Bay held the Ranfurly Shield from 1922 to 1927. They lost on protest to Wairarapa in the latter year. Wairarapa were defeated by Manawhenua. The subsequent holders have been : 1927-28, Canterbury; 1928-29, Wairarapa; 1929-30, Southland; 1930-34, Canterbury; 1934, Auckland (holders).
