FRANKTON.

Porkers Rise 3 s a Head.

Fat sheep were in average supply at the Frankton saleyards on Tuesday, and a good demand existed. Fat wether prices were one shilling a head higher than last week’s, and prime ewes advanced two to three shillings each. Only a few pens of fat lambs were yarded, and these were sold- at late rates.

There was a full yarding of fat cattle, and the demand was fair. Prices for heavy ox and cow beef were unchanged.

There was a medium yarding of fat pigs, and a larger yarding of stores. The majority of the yarding wore porkers and unfinished types. Porkers were sold at about three shillings a head higher than last week’s rates. Stores were sold readily at advanced prices under good competition.* Cattle. —

MATAMATA. Dalgety and Co. held their usual fortnightly stock sale at Matamata on Wednesday when a full yarding of fat and store cattle and a fair yarding of pigs and sheep came forward and met with good competition selling at up to late rates. Practically a full yarding of dairy cattle also cleared at fully up to late rates. Dairy Cattle., — Best 3-year Jersey heifers, £5 10s to £6 10s. More backward sorts, £3 10s to £4 10s. Two-year Jersey heifers, close to profit, £4 10s to £5 10s. Smaller sorts, £3 to £4. Calved heifers, £4 15s to £5 15s. Cows, early calvers, £3 10s to £5 ss. More backward sorts, £2 10s to £3.

Beef.— Heavy fat cows, £4 to £4 Bs. Light fat cows and heifers, £3 to £3 15s. Unfinished cows, £2 to £2 10s. Boner cows, £1 to 355. Three-year empty Polled heifers, fresh condition, £3 9s to £3 14s. Others, less condition, £2 17s to £3. P.A. cows in calf, £4 4s to £4 11s. Shorthorn cows in calf, £2 13s. Best yearling Jersey heifers, £2 10s to £3. Smaller sorts, £2 to £2 Bs.
