THAMES VALLEY POWER BOARD
AUGUST MEETING. The Thames Valley Power Board met on Tuesday, Mr. J. Price (chairman) presiding over Messrs. J. W. Anderson and J. Pohlen (Matamata County), W. R. Lowry and H. M. Corbett (Piako County), J. F. Mayn (Hauraki Plains County), J. McCormick (Thames County), C. Mason (Ohinemuri County), J. M. Allen (Morrinsville), F. E. Flatt (Paeroa), C. A. Arthur (Te Aroha). One Engineer Less. The finance committee reported that the new relief system for troublemen is now in operation and
a distribution engineer has been made an inspector in place of one of the other inspectors. These alterations release two men.
“ The board thinks it can do without one distribution engineer,” explained the chairman, “ but if necessary owing' to rush of work he can be put on again.”
Complaints About Voltage.
The engineer made an explanation regarding - complaints from Paeroa that transformers in wireless sets had been damaged or would be damaged because of high voltage in the board’s lines. With a view to remedying the position the board had decided to shift certain condensers at Paeroa to another position. However, he did not think the voltage was altogether to blame, as some
transformers had burnt out where testing showed that the voltage was normal. New Zealand-made transformers did not burn out.
