Ambulance Ball.

SUCCESSFUL EVENT. A successful ball was held in the Matamata Town Hail on Thursday under the auspices of the St. John Ambulance Brigade. There were about 300 people present. Extras were played by Dr. D. R. Abernethy and Mr. A. Crabb. The M.C.’s were Superintendent A. Clark, Corporal H. Stone, Privates N. Swinbourn and G. Dreaver. A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Miss. E. Prowse and partner. The committee was : Mr. H. R. Stone (secretary), Sergeant C. Adamson, Private N. Swinbourn, and the ladies who were in charge of the supper arrangements. Effective decorations were blue and gold streamers, which formed a canopy above* the dance floor. The tearoom where supper was served was also artistically arranged. The hall was illuminated by coloured lights.
