FRANKTON.

Fat Ewes Advance in Price. Fat wethers and ewes were in good demand at the Frankton saleyards on Tuesday. Competition was keen, especially for fat ewes, which showed an advance in price of one shilling a head. Quotations for wethers were unaltered, while a small yarding of lambs was sold at late rates. There was an average yarding of ox beef, with medium-weight cattle remaining firm in price. Cow and heifer beef was penned in large numbers and included many animals of choice quality. Competition was good, and late rates were maintained.

There was another heavy yarding of pigs. Values for baconers remained on the level of last sale, but porkers advanced sharply, prices improving by three shillings a head, An average yarding of stores and weaners was sold at a slight advance on late rates.

MATAMATA. Dalgety and Co. held their usual fortnightly stock sale at Matamata on Wednesday, when there was an extra heavy yarding of all classes of cattle, a medium yarding of pigs and a full yarding of yearling Jersey heifers, which changed hands under keen competition at advanced rates. An advertised line of Polled Angus cattle came forward in good condition and sold under keen competition. On account ’of Mr. V. Troughton, Turanga-o-moana, 24 choice Jersey heifers sold at £3 10s, others at £2 10s to £3 ss, and smaller Jersey heifers at 35s to £2 2s. Dairy Cattle.—

Tainui Estate, Matangi. The Farmers' Auctioneering Co. held a sale of sheep at Matangi on Monday on behalf of the Tainui Estate. The 'ewes were of extra good quality, genuinely farmed, and showing well forward in lamb. They attracted good competition and bidding was keen throughout. Prices were: — Choice line of 6-tooth ewes, 22s 7d. Two, four, six and eight-tooth ewes, 20s 4d to 21s. Six-tooth and four-year-old ewes, 18s 7d. Five-year ewes, 17s to 17s Id. Three-year Shorthorn steers, to £3 15 8. Two-year Polled Angus heifers, to £2 15 s. '

CLEARING SALES.

Barron Bros., Manawaru. A clearing sale on account of Messrs. Barron Bros., at Manawaru, was held by the Farmers’ Auctioneering Co. before a large attendance. The herd of cows came forward in good condition, and having done over 3001 bof fat, met with good competition, and the whole herd reached the satisfactory average of £6 12s. All sundries and implements sold well under keen demand. The horses were a good quality lot and sold at latest quotations.

Dairy Cattle.— Quality Jersey cows, July calvers, £7 10s to £8 15s. Jersey cows, August and September calvers, £5 10s to £7. Jersey cross cows, July calvers, £6 10s to £7 15s. Mr. J. Clements, Tatuanui. The satisfactory average of £6 Is was obtained for 93 cows sold at the clearing sale on account of Mr. J. Clements, of Tatuanui, held by the Farmers’ Auctioneering Co. on Tuesday before a good attendance. The cows, which were mostly second and third calvers, came forward in condition, /and competition was keen throughout, especially for cows in milk. Top price was £9 15s paid by Mr. P. J. Flynn, of Te Puninga, for a good Jersey cow. Cows in milk sold at £8 10s, £B, £7 15s (3). Prices were as follow: Jersey cows, July and August calvers, £6 10s to £8; September calvers, £5 to £6 ss. Friesian-Jersey cross cows, £6 10s to £7 15s. Poorer sorts, £4 to £4 10s. Best Jersey cows in milk, £6 15s to £8 10s. Other cows in milk, £4 to £6.

The Farmers' Auctioneering Co. held a sale on account of Mr. J. F. Holwell, at Piarere, on Friday, when there was a good attendance. The herd, which were a good lot, were slightly lacking in condition, but despite this fact a good average resulted. The farm horses were a good type, and sold under keen competition. Implements and sundries also found a ready sale.
