A RESTRICTED LICENSE.
FOR DEAF MOTORIST.
Matamata County’s Decision.
A Horahora farmer wrote to the Matamata County Council on Friday protesting against his driving license being refused on account of deafness which had not altered for 30 years. He had had an unrestricted license for years, and since 1898 he had driven 65,000 miles. Several councillors gave instances, of drivers they knew who were deaf and who had licenses. It was remarked that the difficulty appeared to be in driving in town areas. The council decided to approve of a license being issued which would permit the applicant to drive in the Matamata county and within a radius of 10 miles of the Cambridge post office.
