FRANCE’S SNORING DOGS.
French bulldogs—squat, like the\ English bulldog, but smaller and notj bowlegged—are becoming more popular in England. Before the war the suburbs of Paris were overrun by them; but now they have lost a great part of their hold on French dog-lov-ers and have found their way instead into the hearts of the English* Austrians, and Germans. Ferocious as they look, French bulldogs are really most affectionate ani- ; mals. They seldom bark, thougli { their sporting instincts are .aroused \ by the very smell of a rat, and thebj coats are easily kept glossy.
They make excellent watchdogs (says an expert in the Daily Mail); and are a great asset to the town house, for they behave well among visitors and have not that craving; for exercise which larger dogs display. They] have only one disadvantage——Which they share with th€l English buildbgs—a tendency to snorgj while they .are sleeping. .
