THAMES VALLEY POWER.
MEETING OF THE BOARD. The February meeting of the Thames Valley Electric Power Board was held on Tuesday, the chairman (Mr. F. M. Strange) presiding. Those present were : Messrs. C. A. Arthur, W; R. Lowry, J. Price, J. Pohlen, J. M. Allen, F. E. Flatt, H. M. Corbett, J. McCormick and E. L. Walton. The manager (Mr. R. Sprague) and the engineer (Mr. N. G. McLeod) were also in attendance.
Putaruru Representation.
The Putaruru Town Board advised that the present arrangement regarding Putaruru’s representation on the Power Board was satisfactory in the meantime, but the Town Board hoped that early steps would be taken so that the Power Boards Act would be amended to permit of Putaruru having direct representation. The Town Board suggested that the Power Board should forward a remit to the next Power Boards 'Conference to the effect that the Act be amended to extend the basis of representation on power boards so that cases such as Putaruru’s would be better provided for. “ This opens up a very big question,” commented the chairman. “ If every independent local body in the Power Board's area had direct refrre-
sentation I am afraid the board would be an unwieldy one.” Engineer’s Report.
The engineer reported that on the December round the meter reader reported erratic readings of the meters’ on the 3000-volt section supplied from the main 11/3-k.v. transformer at Tirau. A defect was eventually found in this transformer and it was replaced on January 7. In order to improve supply the existing low-tension wire on Waiomo road was replaced by another wire for a distance of 58 chains from Atkinson’s to Kenyon’s, the work being completed on December 8.
