LOOKING FOR A CADDIE.

WEALTHY GOLFER’S QUEST. Mr Hugh S. Jenkins, of San Diego, California, has travelled more than 7000 miles with the sole object of finding the caddie who went round a Manchester golf course with him twelve months ago. Mr Jenkins was for fifteen years associated with Mr Henry Ford at Detroit, and was for four years managing director of the Ford Motor Company in England. . He is credited with being a genius among motor salesmen. He is also a golfer. Golf has its moments of sadness when the outlook is a murky grey, and for months Mr Jenkins, the golfer, has been facing just such an outlook. He was toying with a niblick in his bedroo mat the Park Lane Hotel when an interviewer saw him recently. The scarlet and gold dressing-gown he was wearing failed to dispel the, impression that he was a stricken man—a man who foozles his drives and muffs his putts. “My game has gone all to pot," Ms; Jenkins confessed emotionally, “ and I have come to England to find the only man who can put me wise. I forget his name, but I am hoping that he is still running round at the Timperly course, near Manchester, and if he is—well, I guess he’ll fix things, all right.” Mr Jenkins gazed wistfully into the middle distance, and conjured up a vision of the Lancashire caddie, the only man who can bring back joy to his life. * “ He was a great, tall, lean fellow, who didn’t say much, but he made you sit up when he did speak. He was a rare tyrant to me, and bullied me when I didn’t handle my clubs to his liking. Gee! I hope I can find him again 1 If I don’t this trip will be wasted,” American golf courses, American professional players and coaches, American‘golf equipment and American caddies were stoutly defended by Mr Jenkins. He added: “It just happens that the man T am looking for is the only man who can put me wise.” The saddest folfer in the world then looked up trains to Manchester, and muttered; “ Gee! I hope I find him! ”
