ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY.

ANNUAL MEETING.' Putaruru Branch. The annual meeting of the Putaruru branch of the Auckland Acclimatisation Society was held in the Oddfellows’ rooms on Friday. Among those attending were: Messrs. F. C. Flyger (president), T. Cotter, M. E. Fitzgerald, F. Peters, T. Jones, A. E. Schplz, G. and H. Kingscott, S. C. Sneil, A. Macown, G. G. Griffiths, T. F. Snell (hon. treasurer) and W. Proctor (hon. secretary). Finance. The financial statement submitted by the treasurer showed that receipts from subscriptions amounted to £7 15s, while items of expenditure were food supplies £3 7s 6d, general expenses £1 10s 6d, balance £2 17s, total £7 15s. . Against the amount in hand were accounts totalling £1 12s 6d, leaving a balance for the new season amounting to £1 4s 6d. Election of Officers. A The election of officers resulted as follows: President, Mr. F. C. Flyger; vice-presidents, Messrs. M. E. Fitzgerald and S. C. Shell; hon. secretary, Mr. T. .F. Snell;/ committee, Messrs. W. Proctor, W. G. Barnett, G. Kingscott, T. Cotter, A. E. Scholz and G. G. Griffiths. Honorary Solicitor. On the motion of Messrs. Fitzgerald and Flyger, it was decided to invite Mr. J. R. 0. Lochhead to act as honorary Solicitor to the branch. ' Boundary. On the motion of Messrs. Cotter mnd S. C. Snell, it was decided to apply to Auckland for a map showing the boundaries. Partridges. Mr. Flyger stated that he had ten-

tatively asked for 75 Chukor partridges for the Putaruru district* and it was for the meeting to say whether they should put in a formal application for them. Mr. Fitzgerald thought they should make sure that it would not result in their having another close season for shooting next year. It was decided to apply on these conditions. “Not a Fair Pop.” The chairman thought it was “ not a fair pop ” that people could go to Auckland and be appointed ranger without reference to the local branch. He proposed that a remit be sent to Auckland suggesting that all rangers warrants be cancelled, with the exception of these approved by the local branches, and that in future all names for appointment be first of all submitted to local branches~for confirmation. Local Ranger. On the motion of Mr. S. C. Snell it was decided to forward Mr. G. Kingscott’s name as a local ranger. Thanks. On the motion of Mr. Macown a hearty vote of thanks was accorded to the outgoing officials for their work during the past year.
