CLEARING SALES. 6

Mr. W. Noton. There was a fair attendance at Mr. W. Noton’s clearing sale conducted by the Farmers’ Auctioneering Co. on the owner’s property at Tauhei on Thursday. The offering included a herd of 70 Shorthorn-Jersey cross cows, which averaged about £lO. Prices for the best ranged from £ll to £l3, others bringing from £6 to £lO. The heifers, offered were not in good condition and attracted poor competition. Prices were up to £6. Calves brought from £3 to £4 10s, Pigs sold fairly well, sows bringing from £3 to £6, and large slips to 28s. An aged farm mare realised £l2 10s.

MATAMATA. A good yarding of over 100 head of beef met with keen demand at the Sale conducted by the Farmers’ Auctioneering Co. at Matamata on Saturday. A number of choice Holstein heifer calves, with a good butter-fat backing realised £4 19s, while Ayrshire heifer calves brought £4 10s. There was an average yarding in the pig section, the demand being fair and late rates maintained. Other prices were as follows: — Cattle.—-Heavy fat cows £8 10s to £ll 18s, medium £7 5s to £B, lighter £6 to £6 15s, unfinished £4 15s to £5 4s; stores, £2 15s to £3 10s. Heifers, £5 17s 6d; Jersey heifer calves, £3 15s to £4 2s 6d; dairy cattle, heifers, £lO to £l2; Jersey cows (July and August calvers), £ll 10s to £l3 15s; later, £8 to £lO.

Pigs.—Heavy baconers, £3 15s to £4 Is; light baconers, £3 5s to £3 8s; heavy porkers, £2 6s to £2 14s; light porkers, £1 10s to £1 17s; slips, 14s to 18s; weaners, 8s to 12s; sows in pig, £3 to £3 10s.

MORRINSVILLE. There was only a fair yarding of pigs and a small entry of sheep at Dalgety and Company’s sale at Morrinsville on Thursday. Beef cattle were yarded in fair numbers, but there was little competition for dairy stock. Prices were:—

Beef.— Light fat cows £5 to £5 10s, fresh-conditioned cows £3 15s to *4 15s, inferior sorts £2 5s to £3 12s ;* Dairy Stock.—Small Jersey heifers £7 10s, Shorthorn heifers £3 10s to £6 10s, Jersey-cross heifer calves £4' 7s 6d.
