STOCK SALES.
HIKUTAIA. At the Hikutaia sale on Tuesday store cattle and calves sold below recent rates. Prices were:—Fat cows £ll 10s to £l4, fresh-conditioned cows from £9 to £lO ss, store cows £5 15s to £7 10s, fat steers ill 5s to £l3 12s 6d, steers £lO Is to £l2 14s, 18-inonths steers £5 7s 6d to £8 7s, 2-year heiters in calf £6 12s 6d to £8 ss, steer calves £3 15s to £5, heifer calves £2 lis to £4 10s, heavy bulls lUgns to 12Jgns, fat ewes 28s, ewes in lamb 255, hoggets 12s 6d to 18s. waihou; At the Waihou sale on Friday there was a largo yarding of caxtle. Mr McLaren's (Manawaru) herd of daily cows sold well. Best cows near to calving brought from 18 to 20 guineas each, med- ' ium from 15 to 17 guineas, backward from 10 to 12 guineas, averaging about £l6 each. Other entries of springing heifers met with keen competition, 2Aj year olds bringing from 12 to 17gns each. | Cow beef made from £ll to £l3 12s 6d, | ordinary from £9 16s to £lO, 2-J-year , steers £l2, 2£-year heifers £8 12s to £8 17s 6d, lfyear steers £6 14s to £7 12s, steer calves £4 15s to £5 Is, heifer calves I£3 lis. Mr J. Hanks' black Polled Angus heifer calves realised up to £5 17s Od, heifers and steers up to £4. There was a fair entry of sheep, but most lots were passed there being little enquiry. Pigs were yarded in average numbers, weaners 7s, good stores 15s.
