Aptopos the question of paper shortage, a writer in “ London Opinion ” hits off the situation very nattily in the following verses : —• The Printer knelt before liia chief, The Printer heaved a sigh, The Printer’s head was bowed with grief ; A tear stood in his eye. “ Hiring,” ho sobbed, “ a talc of woe But nerve yourself, I pray, Our stock of paper is so low We cannot print to-day.” Up sprang the chief with fearful frown, Cried he, ‘‘lt must be done. Get hence, thou sorry inlrstained ' clown— We go to press at one ! ” But oh, next day in house and street Folk murmured ‘‘ What’s amiss ? ” Thatragwasbutasinglesbeet Withnewssetuplikethis !
