1 The Queenstown Eleven were suc- , eessful in warding off the challenge of Cardrona Eleven in a match for the j Burnett Shield played last Saturday, ' A feature of the game was the high , standard of bowling displayed by both i teams. The first innings was conclud--1 ccl with Queenstown only 3 runs in hand but they rallied in the second innings and defeated the challengers i by 8 runs and six wickets. Tribute to Maori Contingent. “Hawke's Bay has given its full support for the proposed memorial to the Maori Battalion and Lt. Ngarimu, V.C. for which it is hoped to raise £25,000 for the creation of a Maori scholarship, fund. The scholarship will be open to any Maori boy or girl in Now Zealand to assist them in their education, whether for technical, agricultural or university training.
