(Own Correspondent) Social Function. A farewell and welcome home social was held in Arrow on Friday eveninglast in honour of L.A.C. R. J. Pittaway and a welcome home to Cpl. T. D. Scott, and Ptes. I. Fowler and E, Sanders. The hall was filled to capacity. Mr Elliott, president of the 1 Farewell Committee, made a presentation to all soldiers. Mr W. H. James, mayor, in his usual capable manner, congratulated L.A.C. Pittaway on the step he had taken and also welcomed Cpl. T. D. Scott and Ptes. I. Fowler and E. Sanders on returning from the Islands. He hoped they would have a very pleasant furlough. Mr James also welcomed the two Grant boys from Frankton. Mrs D. G. Anderson made a presentation to L.A.C. R. J. Pittaway on behalf of the Women’s Division. , After supper the dancing was resumed until the small hours of the morning, music being supplied by the Cromwell orchestra. Golf. The following are the results of a medal match played last week-end: Ladies: Mrs Anderson 113-24-89; Mrs Erridge 114-20-94; Mrs James 104-10-94; Miss G. Hanton 13,-36-95; Mrs Douglas 128-30-98; Miss McEntyre 16336- 127; Mrs Hansen 174-30-138. Men: A. Erridge 95-12-83; C. Johnston 96-10-86; J. McEntyre 111-24-87; J. W. Reed 95-6-89; D. McEntyre 108-18-90; D. Anderson 114-20-94; D. Thompson 106-10-'96; J. Mayne 126-20-106. A mixed foursome will be played next weekend and the draw will be piadc then. Personal. The deaths are recorded in the Dunedin papers of two erstwhile residents of Arrowtown, namely, Wm. Alexander Hay, brother of the late George Hay, and Mrs Adelaide Rushion, wife of the late B. Rushton. Miss M. Diack of Winton was the guest of Mr and Mrs G. H. Pittaway over the week-end. nt Brenda lagrim, of Wellington, Gnr. Margaret Pittaway, of Tairoa Heads, and Mr Gordon Pittaway of Wanaka, were all visitors to Arrow during the week-end' to be present at the farewell of their brother, L.A.C. R. J. Pittaway. Pte. Arthur Pittaway arrived home on Sunday night on leave. Miss Patricia Inder of Queenstown spent last week-end as 'he guest of Miss Winnie Fitzpatrick. Visitors to the Royal Oak hotel over the week were: Mr D. Grant and Mr Girdwood, Dunedin.
